HISTORY
He found his way to Australian Rally championship events and Rallycross to ogle over his dream cars particularly the giant killing Renault 8 Gordini.
Little was he to know but 6 years later he was borrowing more than his yearly earnings to purchase his the ultimate dream car, an Alpine Renault. That car is his ex works Alpine A110 pictured on this website. Having owned that car since 1976 makes him one of the longest Alpine Renault owners in the world.
THE BIRTH OF ALPINE AFFAIRE
To enable him to repay the debt on the A110 and to repay a house mortgage Colin and wife Lyn set about supplementing their income by repairing and selling Renault 10s, 12s & 16s in their spare time.
After working 14 years with Victoria’s Caterpillar dealer in various roles as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Colin decided to start his own business specialising in the importation, restoration and sales of Alpine Renaults.
So great was his passion for this marquee, Lyn suggested the business be called “ALPINE AFFAIRE”.
In 1986 the business became Colin & Lyn’s sole income stream and with a collapsing Australian dollar it was soon evident Alpines could not provide enough income to support a young family, so it was decided to increase business by diversifying into the service & repair of mainstream Renault models. As the business grew the Peugeot & Citroen brands were added.
After 2 years operating out of premises in Mitcham the business was moved to its current location in Ringwood in 1988.

Colin has continually been involved in motorsport since buying that first Alpine and has competed in circuit racing, hillclimbs, tarmac rallies and motorkhanas. His car of choice has always been an Alpine, Gordini or Renault Sport model. Today his greatest pleasure is driving that same Alpine A110 in historic racing events.
